Taylor Uhl scored with eight seconds left in the first overtime to give No. 2 Stanford a 2-1 women's soccer victory over Arizona on Friday at Cagan Stadium.
The Cardinal (9-0-1, 2-0 Pac-12) extended its home unbeaten streak to 73 matches and its conference winning streak to 44.
The goal was the 10th of the year for Uhl, a transfer from Minnesota. Laura Liedle played a long ball from midfield that found Uhl at the top of the penalty area. Uhl touched the ball to her right foot, then fired a left-footed shot inside the right post in the 100th minute.
"Taylor has an incredible ability to slow the play down," Stanford coach Paul Ratcliffe said. "A lot of people would rush that shot, but Taylor always shows great composure."
The golden goal was Stanford's third of the year, following second-overtime winners by Uhl against Boston College (2-1 win) and Courtney Verloo against Santa Clara (3-2).
Megan Turner (San Ramon Valley High) put Stanford in front in the 37th minute with a header off Sydney Payne's cross. But Arizona (5-3-3, 0-2) intercepted a Stanford back pass in the 78th, leading to a shot by Alexandra Doller that bounced off the post to Emily Lai, who converted the rebound. Kaitlyn Fitzpatrick (Amador Valley High) scored twice, lifting the No. 11 Cal women's soccer team (8-0-3, 1-0-1 Pac-12) to a 2-1 win over Arizona State (6-4, 1-1) at Goldman Field. Tied 1-1, Fitzpatrick hit a volley toward the net in the 86th minute. Sun Devils goalkeeper Chandler Morris stopped the ball from entering the frame, but as Samantha Witteman went to tap the ball in, Mackenzie Semerad tackled her from behind. Semerad was issued a red card, and Fitzpatrick converted the penalty kick. The Saint Mary's men's soccer team (2-4-3, 0-0-1 WCC) and visiting Gonzaga (5-2-1, 0-0-1) battled to a 1-1 tie. The Bulldogs scored in the 50th minute, but the Gaels tied it in the 55th on Alex Braman's header off a corner kick from Michael Semenza. SMC keeper Andre Rawls (California High) had six saves in 110 minutes. Adrienne Gehan had 12 kills and five digs, leading the Cal women's volleyball team (9-3, 2-1 Pac-12) to a 28-26, 31-29, 25-14 win over No. 16 UCLA (9-4, 0-3). It was the Bears' first-ever sweep at Pauley Pavilion. The second-ranked USC women's volleyball team (13-1, 3-0 Pac-12) posted scored three straight points to close out a 25-21, 25-15, 27-25 win over No. 7 Stanford (10-3, 3-1) in Los Angeles. Ebony Nwanebu had 13 kills for the Cardinal. Racing on the course that will host of the NCAA West Regionals, Cal's Kelsey Santisteban (Castro Valley High) won the women's race at the Sacramento State Inter-Regional Jamboree at Haggin Oaks Golf Course. She ran 5,000 meters in 16 minutes, 23 seconds to win by 13 seconds.
Saint Mary's Rajpaul Pannu (Hercules High/Diablo Valley College) won the 8,000-meter men's race in 23:28.
