Lauren Kaskie scored a golden goal in the second overtime as second-ranked UCLA defeated No. 5 Stanford 2-1 in a Pac-12 women's soccer game in front 2,150 at Cagan Stadium on Thursday night.

The Bruins (11-1-1, 3-0-1 Pac-12) broke a seven-game losing streak to the Cardinal, which lost its second consecutive match for the first time since 2006. Stanford (9-2-1, 2-2) also lost consecutive league matches at home for the first time since 1997.

UCLA out-shot the Cardinal 21-13.

The Bruins scored in the 62nd minute when Jenna Richmond found the back of the net off a lightning counter attack. Taylor Smith raced down the right side before crossing into the penalty box where Richmond stood unmarked.

Stanford's Lo LoBonta scored with 1½ minutes left in regulation to tie it in a stunning turnaround. The equalizer came off Courtney Verloo's service across the field.

The Cardinal outplayed UCLA in the first 10-minute OT but failed to score.

  • Julie Johnston scored off a Sofia Huerta assist in the first half, and the No. 18 Santa Clara women's soccer team (7-3-1, 1-0 WCC) posted a 1-0 win over San Diego (7-5, 0-1).

  • Substitutes Max Oldham and Christian Thierjung scored second-half goals, lifting the No. 1 Cal men's soccer team (8-0-2, 2-0-1 Pac-12) to a 2-1 win at San Diego State (3-6, 0-2). Thierjung scored the go-ahead goal from 18 yards in the 80th minute.

  • Aaron Simmons scored in the 89th minute, giving the No. 6 UCLA men's soccer team (7-2-1, 2-0 Pac-12) a 1-0 win over visiting Stanford (6-3-1, 1-2). Simmons' shot from close range deflected off a defender and into the net.

  • No. 24 BYU (13-3, 4-0 WCC) rallied to an 18-25, 25-22, 25-10, 28-26 women's volleyball win over visiting Santa Clara (7-8, 2-4). Sabrina Clayton had 15 kills in the loss.

  • Jordan Shaw had 20 kills and 12 digs, leading the Saint Mary's women's volleyball team (9-5, 5-1 WCC) to a 22-25, 25-13, 25-20, 20-25, 15-7 win over Loyola Marymount (8-8, 3-4).
