U.S. national team coach Jurgen Klinsmann said Earthquakes defender Clarence Goodson will start at Panama on Tuesday.

"We wanted to get Clarence a game in one of the last two (World Cup) qualifiers, which is why we are now rotating Matt Besler out," Klinsmann said.

Midfielders Landon Donovan (ankle) and Jermaine Jones (knee) were dropped from the roster for the U.S.'s final qualifier because of injuries.

The U.S. clinched a World Cup berth last month and beat Jamaica 2-0 on Friday to ensure first place in the CONCACAF group. Goodson's San Jose teammate Chris Wondolowski is also on the U.S. roster, but neither played in Kansas City, Kan.

"Landon is still struggling with the ankle injury," Klinsmann said.

Donovan played a lackluster first half Friday before pulling subbed out.
