Stanford defensive end Ben Gardner will miss the remainder of the season because of a pectoral muscle injury, the school announced Tuesday.
Gardner, an all-conference performer in 2012, left last week's victory at Oregon State in the third quarter and did not return.
The fifth-year senior is scheduled to undergo surgery to repair the damaged muscle.
Stanford's defensive line has been without the other starting end, Henry Anderson, since mid-September.
Anderson could return for the Nov. 7 showdown against Oregon.
