Notre Dame's Steve Vasturia, who was in the game because point guard Eric Atkins had fouled out, missed the front end of a 1-and-1 with 31 seconds left, his first free throw attempt of the season. Smith then scored to give the Buckeyes a 61-60 lead with 16 seconds to go. After a Notre Dame turnover, Smith made two free throws for a 63-60 lead with 9.8 seconds left.
Oregon 100, BYU 96: Jason Calliste scored 31 points as the No. 13 Ducks (11-0) beat the Cougars (8-5) in overtime in Eugene, Ore. Tyler Haws led BYU with 32 points. Oregon had a chance to win in regulation, but Elgin Cook missed two foul shots with 1.8 seconds left.
Oklahoma State 78, Colorado 73: Markel Brown scored 23 points as the No. 7 Cowboys (11-1) defeated the No. 20 Buffaloes (10-2) in Las Vegas.
North Carolina 97, Davidson 85: Marcus Paige scored 11 of his 17 points in overtime as the No. 14 Tar Heels (8-3) beat the Wildcats (4-8) in Chapel Hill, N.C.
Florida 66, Fresno State 49: Casey Prather scored 16 points to lead the No. 16 Gators (9-2) past the Bulldogs (6-6) in the Orange Bowl Classic in Sunrise, Fla.
Kansas State 72, Gonzaga 62: Thomas Gipson scored eight of his 14 points during a key second-half stretch for the Wildcats (8-3), who defeated the No. 21 Bulldogs (10-2) in Wichita, Kan.
San Jose State 73, Westminster 66: Consecutive 3-pointers by Rashad Muhammad, Devante Wilson and D.J. Brown in the final 2:01 helped the host Spartans (5-6) overcome a 10-point second-half deficit and defeat Westminster College of Utah (7-7).
Chris Cunningham and Jaleel Williams each scored 18 points for San Jose State, which hit 25 of 31 free throws. Cunningham also had 11 rebounds.

San Jose State 81, UMKC 76: Sophomore Riana Byrd scored 10 of her 19 points in the last five minutes to help the host Spartans (6-5) beat the University of Missouri-Kansas City (4-8). Byrd also grabbed 18 rebounds.
Saint Mary's 72, Cal State Northridge 60: The Gaels (10-1) closed with a 12-0 run to defeat the host Matadors (4-8). Danielle Mauldin led Saint Mary's with 17 points and 15 rebounds.
