MONDAY'S HIGHLIGHTS

Sabres 2, Coyotes 1: Ryan Miller made 36 saves, and Mark Pysyk scored an unusual goal at 3:47 of overtime to lift short-handed Buffalo. Pysyk, called up earlier in the day from Rochester in the AHL, scored when his deflected shot hit Martin Hanzal and became lodged in the back of Phoenix goalie Mike Smith's jersey. Smith retreated into his crease, unwittingly carrying the puck across the line and ending the game. "I didn't feel it at all," Smith said. "I didn't know what happened. I knew that puck went up in the air but had no idea where it went after that." Said Miller: "It's a little bit of a Christmas present for us, and we'll take it."

Ducks 3, Capitals 2: Hampus Lindholm scored the game-winner in the third period and Anaheim rallied in coach Bruce Boudreau's return to the Verizon Center. Boudreau, who coached the Capitals for five seasons until he was fired in Nov. 2011 (and then hired by the Ducks two days later) said he "was as nervous as all get out" to face his former team.

Flames 4, Blues 3: Joe Colborne scored the only goal of the shootout after Calgary's Mark Giordano forced overtime by scoring the tying goal with five seconds left in the third period.

Stars 5, Kings 2: Tyler Seguin and Jamie Benn scored on Dallas' first two shots against previously unbeaten Martin Jones, who was going after Ray Emery's mark of nine straight winning decisions from the start of a career.
