New Tampa Bay Bucs coach Lovie Smith continued to give his staff a decided Bay Area look when it was reported by the Tampa Bay Times that Hardy Nickerson had been hired Tuesday as a linebackers coach.

Nickerson, who played for the Bucs from 1993-99, had spent the last four seasons as the head coach at Bishop O'Dowd High. He played his college football at Cal.

Other familiar faces on the Tampa Bay staff include offensive coordinator Jeff Tedford and quarterbacks coach Marcus Arroyo. Tedford was Cal's coach from 2002-2012 before being fired.

Arroyo played quarterback at San Jose State from 1998-2002 and also coached at his alma mater. He was on Tedford's staff at Cal in 2011-12, and spent the past season as the offensive coordinator at Southern Mississippi.
