Caris LeVert added 20 for the Wolverines (13-4, 5-0 Big Ten), who won in Madison for the first time since 1999.
The Badgers (16-2, 3-2) went on a 14-2 run late, and Ben Brust's putback got them within 68-67 with about two minutes left. But Stauskas' step-back 3 from the left side gave Michigan a 71-67 lead.
Wyoming 67, San Jose State 56: The Spartans missed 12 of their first 15 shots and couldn't overtake the Cowboys in a Mountain West game in Laramie, Wyo.
The Spartans, who have lost six straight, drew within 52-48 after a 14-foot jumper by Jalen James, but Charles Hankerson Jr. answered with a 3 for Wyoming, which then held San Jose State scoreless for nearly 5 minutes.
Wyoming's Larry Nance Jr., the leading shot-blocker in the Mountain West, swatted away six of the Spartans' shots, including four down the stretch. Nance finished with 18 points and 13 rebounds for the Cowboys (11-6, 2-2).
D.J. Brown paced San Jose State (6-12, 0-6) with 18 points, while Devante Wilson had 13 and Chris Cunningham 10.
USF 64, San Diego 62: Avry Holmes' last-second shot boosted the Dons (12-8, 5-3 West Coast Conference) past the Toreros (11-9, 2-5) at War Memorial Gym. Holmes scored 15 points, and Kruize Pinkins added 14 points and 11 rebounds for USF. Johnny Dee led San Diego with 16 points.
Syracuse 59, Pittsburgh 54: Freshman point guard Tyler Ennis scored 16 points, including two driving layups and two free throws in the final two minutes, and the No. 2 Orange (18-0, 5-0) beat the No. 22 Panthers (16-2, 4-1) in a battle for first place in the Atlantic Coast Conference between the two former Big East rivals.
Michigan State 78, Illinois 62: Gary Harris scored 23 points as the No. 4 Spartans (17-1, 6-0 Big Ten) beat the host Illini (13-6, 2-4).
Kansas 80, Oklahoma State 78: Naadir Tharpe scored 21 points to spark the No. 15 Jayhawks (13-4, 4-0 Big 12) past the No. 9 Cowboys (15-3, 3-2) in Lawrence, Kan.
Phil Forte hit seven 3-pointers and had 21 points for Oklahoma State. Marcus Smart added 16 points but was just 3 of 14 from the field.
Colorado 83, USC 62: Josh Scott scored 20 points to help the host Buffaloes (15-4, 4-2 Pac-12) send the Trojans (9-9, 0-5) to their fifth straight loss.
Utah 74, UCLA 69: Jordan Loveridge had 17 points to lead the Utes (14-4, 3-3 Pac-12) past the No. 25 Bruins (14-4, 3-2) in Salt Lake City. Kyle Anderson had 28 points for UCLA.
San Jose State, 74, Wyoming 68: Ta'Rea Cunnigan scored 27 points, Riana Byrd had 16 points, 10 rebounds and six steals, and the Spartans (8-9, 2-4 Mountain West) beat the Cowgirls (11-3, 2-2) at the Event Center.
Saint Mary's 78, Loyola Marymount 74: Jackie Nared had 28 points and 11 rebounds, Danielle Mauldin added 20 points and 17 rebounds, and Kate Gaze scored 20 points to lead the Gaels (16-3, 6-2 WCC) past the Lions (5-13, 2-5) in Moraga.
