Anyone expecting Richard Sherman to get the weeklong hype for the Super Bowl started with another rant was disappointed Sunday.

With about a dozen camera crews and 50 reporters surrounding him after the team arrived in New Jersey, the Seattle Seahawks cornerback smiled broadly, winked when a reporter asked him about his rant at the 49ers' Michael Crabtree after the NFC championship game, and played it close to the vest in discussing the Super Bowl next Sunday against Denver at MetLife Stadium.

Sherman talked about his respect for the Broncos offense, his friendship with Denver receiver Demaryius Thomas and the fact that the blowup with Crabtree led to a good discussion about race relations.

"I am just a guy trying to be the best," Sherman said. "I am a guy who wants to help this team win. I am a fiery competitor who puts his life into his work and puts his everything into his work. I came from humble beginnings and came from a place where not everyone gets out of. I am just trying to affect the world in a positive way."

Sherman said he has reached out to Ronnie Lott and Deion Sanders for advice on how to prepare for a Super Bowl.

Broncos: Coach John Fox says place-kicker Matt Prater will be fine for the Super Bowl. Prater missed practice last week with the flu.

Dolphins: Longtime Tampa Bay executive Dennis Hickey was hired as Miami's general manager. He replaces Jeff Ireland, who left after six seasons.

Pro Bowl: Kansas City's Alex Smith threw a 20-yard touchdown pass to Dallas' DeMarco Murray, and Carolina's Mike Tolbert added a 2-point conversion with 41 seconds to play to give Jerry Rice a 22-21 win over Deion Sanders in the first schoolyard-style Pro Bowl in Honolulu.

Baltimore's Justin Tucker missed a 67-yard field goal on the final play after missing a 66-yarder earlier.

Philadelphia's Nick Foles threw a 12-yard touchdown pass to Cleveland's Jordan Cameron to give Sanders a 21-14 lead with 4:41 left.

Sanders opened the scoring on a 36-yard pass from Indianapolis' Andrew Luck to Philadelphia's DeSean Jackson.
