Roberto Luongo traded, and other deals: The day before the trade deadline proved to be busy, too, with several big-name players on the move, including star goalie Roberto Luongo, who was ushered out of Vancouver and sent back to Florida eight years after he was sent packing.

The Panthers dealt goalie Jacob Markstrom and forward Shawn Matthias to the Canucks for Luongo and forward Steven Anthony.

The Anaheim Ducks sent goalie Viktor Fasth to the Edmonton Oilers for a 2014 fifth-round draft pick and a 2015 third-round selection. Edmonton then traded veteran goalie Ilya Bryzgalov to the Minnesota Wild for a fourth-round draft pick this year.

The Ducks also traded forward Dustin Penner to the Washington Capitals for a fourth-round draft pick this year and then moved that pick to the Dallas Stars for veteran defenseman Stephane Robidas.

Avalanche 4, Blackhawks 2: Colorado moved within one point of Chicago for second in the Central Division.

Coyotes 1, Canucks 0: Mike Smith stopped 23 shots and Phoenix got back to its defensive ways.

Oilers 3, Senators 2: Edmonton snapped a three-game losing streak.

Penguins 3, Predators 1: Matt Niskanen scored his second goal of the game 7:29 into the third period, and Pittsburgh snapped a three-game skid.

Blues 4, Lightning 2: Goalie Ryan Miller won his first home start for St. Louis.

Blue Jackets 4, Stars 2: Artem Anisimov scored twice as Columbus held off Dallas.

Islanders 3, Jets 2: Michael Grabner scored on a breakaway 3:53 into overtime for the Islanders.

Bruins 4, Panthers 1: David Krejci scored three goals for Boston.

Devils 4, Red Wings 3: Stephen Gionta scored the tiebreaking goal with under 37 seconds left to pace New Jersey.
