A person familiar with the situation says Darren Sproles has been informed that New Orleans will release him if it's unable to trade him before free agency begins Tuesday.
Sproles, used as a running back, receiver and return specialist, is due $3.4 million in 2014.
On Friday, the Saints also released wide receiver Lance Moore, who is due $3.1 million in 2014.

There's ongoing sexual assault investigations involving Sharper in five states.
