Cal football practices still will be open to the public this spring, just not all of them.
The Bears begin spring workouts Monday with the first of six practices scheduled to be open to fans, capped by the spring game on April 26. Monday's first workout runs from 3:30 to 6 p.m. Other open practices will be Saturday, April 5 (11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.), Wednesday, April 9 (3:30 to 6 p.m.), Saturday, April 12 (10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.) and Friday, April 18 (3:30 to 6 p.m.).
Rookie quarterback Nathan Stanley was named the AFL Offensive Player of the Week. In his first career AFL start, Stanley threw six touchdowns and rushed for another in a 70-33 win over the Philadelphia Soul.
San Jose State's Kathleen Rojas shot a team-best 75 in the second round and is tied for 11th after two rounds of the Anuenue Spring Break Classic women's golf tournament, played at The Bay Course in Kapalua, Maui. San Jose State ended the day in fifth place at 603.
The Stanford-Saint Mary's baseball game at SMC's Louis Guisto Field was postponed because of rain. A makeup date is to be determined.
