A source familiar with Jacksonville's plans says Pro Bowl center Alex Mack will sign a five-year, $42 million offer sheet with the Jaguars on Friday.

Cleveland will have five days to match the offer. If the Browns decline, they won't get anything in return. Cleveland, though, has been planning to match any deal for the former Cal star, who was designated with the Browns' $10.039 million transition tag.

  • Carolina signed safety Thomas DeCoud to a two-year contract. Financial terms weren't released. DeCoud, a former Cal star, spent the past six seasons with Atlanta and went to the Pro Bowl in 2012. The Panthers also signed former Baltimore tight end Ed Dickson.

  • New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning will have surgery to relieve lingering discomfort in the left ankle. He expects to be able to run in six weeks.

    Designated player Chris Wondolowski has a guaranteed contract of $650,000, the highest among the Earthquakes' 31 players, according to the MLS Players Union. Seattle's Clint Dempsey is the league's highest-paid player at $6.695 million. Toronto's Michael Bradley is second at $6.5 million. Los Angeles' Landon Donovan is at $4.583 million.

  • It took less than a day for all tickets to sell out at the 100,000-plus seat Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor for the Aug. 2 exhibition match between Manchester United and Real Madrid.

    Lance Armstrong gave sworn testimony naming several people he says knew about his performance-enhancing drug use. The written testimony came in a lawsuit by Acceptance Insurance that was settled in 2013. The documents were filed this week as part of the federal whistle-blower lawsuit. Armstrong said those who provided him with PEDs included trainer Pepi Marti. The cyclist has so far refused to provide testimony to the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency.

  • UNLV won't be eligible for the Mountain West championship football game or a bowl berth in 2014 after failing to reach the minimum Academic Progress Rate score.

  • Daniel Ciampini had a hat trick to help Union beat Boston College 5-4 in the NCAA hockey semifinals in Philadelphia. Minnesota beat North Dakota 2-1 in the other semifinal.

  • Former UFC champion Georges St. Pierre underwent knee surgery for a torn anterior cruciate ligament.
