Former Archbishop Mitty star Aaron Gordon will hold a news conference Tuesday to discuss "plans and decisions," his mother, Shelly Davis Gordon, said in a text message to the Mercury News.
Yahoo Sports reported earlier in the day that Gordon plans to announce this week that he is entering the NBA draft.
Gordon, who just completed his freshman season at Arizona, is ranked sixth on ESPN analyst Chad Ford's big board.
The 6-foot-9 forward helped lead Arizona to the NCAA tournament West Regional final, averaging 12.4 points and eight rebounds. He was named Pac-12 Conference freshman of the year.
The Portsmouth Invitational Tournament (PIT) features the top 64 seniors from across the country competing in a four-day, 12-game tournament in front of representatives from NBA franchises and international organizations.
Santa Clara is tied for third place and Saint Mary's is seventh after the first day of the West Coast Conference men's golf championships in Bremerton, Wash. BYU leads with a 3-under 285 total, followed by Pacific at 286 and Santa Clara and USF at 288 at Gold Mountain Golf Club. Saint Mary's is at 292. Pacific's Byron Meth is the individual leader at 6-under 66. The Broncos' Tyler Kertson and Scott Lowe and the Gaels' Cody Robinson are in a group tied for seventh at 71.
The Santa Clara women are last in the five-team field after the first day of the WCC championships at the same course. Annie Freman and Meghan Shain shot 77s to lead the Broncos.
San Jose State is tied for sixth with Oregon at 594, 13 strokes behind leader Washington in the 15-team field. Cal is in 13th place at 607.
San Jose Giants
Kyle McGowin allowed three hits over seven shutout innings and Sherman Johnson hit a three-run triple to lead the Inland Empire 66ers to a 6-0 win over the San Jose Giants at Municipal Stadium. Giants starter Chris Stratton (1-2) blanked the 66ers for five innings but was touched for two runs in the sixth. San Jose has lost seven of eight.
