Angels 11, Braves 6: Kole Calhoun's bases-loaded single in the 13th inning drove in the go-ahead run, and Los Angeles recovered after blowing a four-run lead in the ninth. Mike Trout and Albert Pujols each had three hits, including a home run, and four RBIs for the Angels.

Dodgers 6, Diamondbacks 4: Dan Haren pitched into the seventh inning and hit a tiebreaking three-run double to spark Los Angeles. Dee Gordon homered for the Dodgers, who are 10-3 against Arizona and 27-30 against everyone else.

Phillies 7, Cubs 4: Jimmy Rollins singled to pass Hall of Famer Mike Schmidt to become the Phillies' career hits leader, and Domonic Brown hit a three-run homer to power Philadelphia. Rollins got hit No. 2,235 off Edwin Jackson to open the fifth.

Tigers 12, Twins 9: Rookie Eugenio Suarez hit a leadoff homer and a run-scoring double in a seven-run third inning, and Detroit held on for the win after taking an 11-1 lead through six innings.

Pirates 8, Marlins 6: Andrew McCutchen hit a three-run homer, and rookie Gregory Polanco had two hits and two RBIs to help Pittsburgh win its fourth straight.

Orioles 3, Blue Jays 2: Chris Davis hit a two-run homer to back strong pitching by Baltimore's Bud Norris. Toronto starter R.A. Dickey left the game in the seventh because of right groin tightness.

Royals 9, White Sox 1: Danny Duffy matched a career high with nine strikeouts, and Mike Moustakas homered to help Kansas City extend its winning streak to six games.

Brewers 4, Reds 2: Ryan Braun hit a two-run home run in the eighth inning to lift Milwaukee.

Cardinals 4, Nationals 1: Matt Adams hit a go-ahead home run off Stephen Strasburg in St. Louis' three-run seventh inning.

  • Cardinals ace Adam Wainwright will skip a turn in the rotation to allow tendinitis in his pitching elbow to subside.
