Royals 11, Tigers 8: Omar Infante hit a three-run homer in the sixth inning and an RBI single in a four-run fifth to help Kansas City win its eighth straight and pull within a half-game of A.L. Central-leading Detroit. The Tigers' Justin Verlander allowed seven earned runs in consecutive starts for the first time in his career, giving up 12 hits over six innings.

Dodgers 6, Rockies 1: Dee Gordon had four hits, including a triple that was misplayed into four bases by left fielder Charlie Blackmon, and Hyun-Jin Ryu pitched six strong innings as Los Angeles snapped Colorado's winning streak at five games.

  • Dodgers right-hander Chad Billingsley, who had Tommy John surgery in April 2013, has a torn flexor tendon in his right elbow and will undergo season-ending surgery next week.

    Brewers 9, Diamondbacks 3: Aramis Ramirez lined a two-run double in the eighth inning, helping Milwaukee break open a close game. Ryan Braun hit a two-run triple in the ninth.

  • Diamondbacks right-hander Bronson Arroyo is headed to the disabled list for the first time in his 15-year career with elbow tendinitis.

    Mariners 5, Padres 1: Kyle Seager hit a three-run homer, Brad Miller added a solo shot, and Seattle's Chris Young threw six shutout innings against his former team.

    Cubs 5, Marlins 4: Pinch-hitting pitcher Travis Wood hit an RBI double with two outs in the 13th inning for Chicago.

  • Miami called up left-hander Andrew Heaney and right-hander Anthony DeSclafani from Triple-A New Orleans and plugged both pitchers into the rotation for this week. Heaney, the team's top prospect, will make his big-league debut Thursday against the Mets.

    Indians 4, Angels 3: Carlos Santana and Asdrubal Cabrera homered to spark Cleveland. Los Angeles has lost four of five since winning five straight.

    Cardinals 6, Mets 2: Allen Craig and Matt Adams each had two RBIs to lead St. Louis.
