Eleven-year-old Lucy Li of Redwood Shores was off to an up-and-down start Thursday morning in her first Women's U.S. Open experience in Pinehurst, N.C.

Li was at 6-over-par with three holes left to play at Pinehurst No. 2.

She started on No. 10 and double bogeyed. After bogeying 13 and double bogeying 16, she was five-over after just six holes.

But Li steadied herself somewhat, birdieing holes No. 1 and 5, but also mixed in her third double bogey of the day on the par-4 third.
