Angels 5, Dodgers 0: Garrett Richards pitched a five-hitter for his first career shutout, and Mike Trout and Albert Pujols had RBI doubles in a four-run first inning against Zack Greinke as the Angels won the opener of the teams' Freeway Series. Josh Hamilton added a solo homer in the sixth inning.

Yankees 2, Tigers 1: Brandon McCarthy improved to 4-0 for New York, which took the first of three straight matchups against Detroit's Cy Young Award winners, beating Max Scherzer.

Orioles 7, Nationals 3: Caleb Joseph homered and drove in three runs, and Nick Markakis also homered to help Baltimore win for the eighth time in its past 11 games.

Indians 7, Reds 1: Corey Kluber allowed one run in 71/3 innings to win his fifth straight decision, and Lonnie Chisenhall hit a three-run homer for Cleveland.

White Sox 5, Rangers 3: Tyler Flowers went 3 for 3 with a home run, triple and three RBIs, helping Chicago win a game that ended in the seventh inning because of rain. White Sox rookie Jose Abreu drove in two runs, giving him 86 RBIs on the season.
