Angels 4, Red Sox 2: Mike Trout and Albert Pujols hit consecutive RBI doubles, helping Los Angeles extend its A.L. West lead to a half-game over the idle A's. Kevin Jepsen worked the ninth for his first save since Sept. 16, 2012. He struck out David Ortiz with two on and none out before allowing a run.

  • Angels outfielder Josh Hamilton was out of the lineup for a second straight game. Hamilton, in a 3-for-25 slump, asked for a day off Sunday. He has two homers and three RBIs this month.

    Nationals 5, Diamondbacks 4: Adam LaRoche hit a walk-off solo home run with two outs in the 11th inning as Washington won its seventh straight. It was the third walk-off win for the Nationals in as many day. Winning pitcher Craig Stammen pitched out of a bases-loaded, no-outs jam in the top of the 11th.

  • Washington agreed to a minor league deal with outfielder Nate Schierholtz and sent him to Triple-A Syracuse.

    Braves 7, Pirates 3: Jason Heyward and Andrelton Simmons homered to begin a six-run first, and Atlanta won its fourth straight. Pittsburgh has lost six in a row.

    Cardinals 6, Reds 5: Jhonny Peralta's 10th-inning single drove in the winning run for St. Louis. Cincinnati second baseman Brandon Phillips returned to the lineup after being activated from the disabled list and went 0 for 4.

    Royals 6, Twins 4: Erik Kratz homered twice, and Jason Vargas pitched seven strong innings for Kansas City.

    Orioles 8, White Sox 2: Nick Markakis hit a two-run homer and prevented one with a leaping catch in right field, and Nelson Cruz and J.J. Hardy each added a solo shot to power Baltimore.

    Phillies 4, Mariners 1: Jerome Williams took a three-hitter into the eighth inning, and Andres Blanco hit his first homer in three years to spark Philadelphia.

    Cubs 4, Mets 1: Anthony Rizzo and Javier Baez homered, and rookie Kyle Hendricks won his fourth straight start for Chicago.

  • Mets right-hander Bartolo Colon was scratched from his scheduled start. He traveled to the Dominican Republic to be with his ailing mother.
