Nevada 28, Southern Utah 19: Cody Fajardo threw for 303 yards and a touchdown and ran for another score to lead Nevada to a win over Southern Utah in the season opener Saturday in Reno, Nevada.
The only FBS player with over 7,000 passing yards and 2,000 rushing yards, Fajardo finished with 371 yards, giving him 9,968 total career yards. He completed 30 of 41 passes and ran for 68 yards.
Jerico Richardson caught 13 passes for 177 yards for Nevada. Don Jackson rushed for 110 yards and one score.
San Diego State 38, Northern Arizona 7: Donnel Pumphrey ran for 111 yards on 19 carries and scored twice in the Aztecs' victory over the Lumberjacks. Pumphrey's scoring runs came from a yard out. Quinn Kaehler was 18 of 29 for 205 yards and a touchdown, extending his streak of 200-yard passing games to 13.
Air Force 44, Nicholls 16: Jacobi Owens rushed for 233 yards in his Air Force debut and Devin Rushing scored two short touchdowns, helping the Falcons beat Nicholls for their 19th straight win over a team from the Football Championship Subdivision.
Owens' output was the most ever by a Falcons player making his first start, breaking the mark of 218 set by Cody Getz in 2012. It's also the seventh-most yards in a game all-time at a school known for its vaunted ground game.
UTEP 31, New Mexico 24: Aaron Jones ran for a career-best 237 yards and three touchdowns to lead UTEP to a victory over New Mexico.
Jones scored his final touchdown with 2:18 remaining to break a 24-all tie after Lobos' punt returner Dameon Gamblin muffed a punt at the 6-yard line.
Wyoming 17, Montana 12: Shaun Wick rushed for 134 yards and a touchdown, D.J. May added 96 yards and a score and the Cowboys defense held Montana to 253 yards total offense. Wyoming has beaten Montana, a Football Championship Subdivision school, in all 14 of their matchups.
