Jennifer Lopez and some of the suits behind "American Idol" are courting super-manager Scooter Braun to be the next addition to the judging panel.
According to TMZ, the idea is to get back to finding great talent that can emerge as stars, ala Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood and William Hung.
Apparently the producers have done some research that shows that viewers don't necessarily care about the judges. They want to see the birth of the next big star. And Braun -- who has built careers for Justin Bieber, Carly Rae Jepsen, the Wanted, and others -- obviously knows something about discovering talent.
But TMZ reports sources close to Braun say he has doubts about doing the show. One of his biggest concerns is becoming recognizable. He reportedly says he likes being able "to go to the grocery store under the radar."
If he gets this job, he can buy his own grocery store.
The website reported that the only way Braun would consider doing the show is if had management control of any contestant he chooses, even the ones who don't win.
Who does this guy think he is -- Simon Cowell?
