Believe it or not, married couples can carry their partnerships into the business world without conflict. Relationship experts Julie and Gene Gates of the Working Couple Network, www.workingcouplenetwork.com, offer some suggestions for peace at home and work:
1. Treat your relationship like a business. "Have a formal goal-setting meeting, discuss your ideas, put them down on paper. Like in business, put them up on a big poster that you will see every day."
2. Get on the same page. "If you're going to make changes in goals, have a meeting and give everyone a head's up so they can get on the same page."
3. Get on the same timeline. "Decide on the timeline in which you will accomplish a goal. Otherwise, if one thinks the plan for a certain business goal is five years, and the other thinks it's one year, they're working at a different pace."
4. Assign a PDR, a Person Directly Responsible. "It's crucial to know who is doing what and have clearly defined roles."
