Joe Jonas was spotted Thursday hanging around with a well-known addiction specialist, according to TMZ.

Maybe he's doing a job-shadow thing, so he can help troubled people, instead of going on the tour that the Jonas Brothers canceled earlier this week.

The website asserts it recognized Mike Bayer, the CEO and founder of Cast Recovery Services, walking into a recording studio Thursday afternoon with Jonas.

Maybe he moonlights as a bongo player or something.

TMZ said Bayer worked with Demi Lovato when she experienced chemical issues a few years back.

The site said the company website describes Bayer as being "well known for quickly responding to crisis situations," which it's probably safe to assume is of the substance abuse and/or mental health variety.

It's not clear why Bayer was with Jonas, but Jonas reportedly wasn't in the mood to speak with photographers about the matter.

Earlier this week, the Jonas Brothers canceled a tour slated to begin Oct. 11. Sources told TMZ the band decided to stop working on new music, as members were seriously conflicted over its musical direction.

The site said Jonas' rep declined to comment.
