It's time to MarchFourth!

The MarchFourth Marching Band, an internationally acclaimed, genre-breaking ensemble featuring 20 musicians, dancers and other festive souls, performs at the New Parish in Oakland on May 9.

It's much more than just a marching band. This visual-and-sonic extravaganza also features stilt walkers, hula hoopers, Vaudeville-style dancers, colorful costumes and stage shenanigans.

The group tackles a variety of musical styles, including jazz, funk, Afro-beat, Eastern European gypsy brass, samba, Latin, big band and, of course, rock 'n' roll.

MarchFourth has appeared at numerous high-profile events, such as South by Southwest, Bumbershoot, Voodoo Experience, Wakarusa, Lotus Festival and Lightning in a Bottle. It's also performed at such venues as the Hollywood Bowl and during many sporting events, including NBA halftime shows.

Show time is 9 p.m. and tickets are $17-$20,
