Sweet small towns

For the third year, Smithsonian magazine has culled cultural gems from the nation's smallest towns and cities, those with populations under 15,000.

It's a fascinating array -- from Northern California's Healdsburg, with its charming town plaza and ample wine-tasting and farm-to-fork dining opportunities; to Steamboat Springs, where Colorado's cowboy past mingles with the musical present; to the well-preserved Nebraska City, a historic Nebraska spot that boasts one museum for every 800 residents.

Here is the top 10. You'll find the full list at www. smithsonianmag.com.
