Jimmy Cliff is pure reggae royalty. The 66-year-old Jamaican is responsible for some of the genre's greatest triumphs, including such worldwide classics as "You Can Get It If You Really Want," "Wonderful World, Beautiful People," "The Harder They Come" and, best of all, "Many Rivers to Cross." For his efforts, Cliff was rightfully inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2010 as well as was awarded the highly prestigious Order of Merit by the Jamaican government. Cliff performs Friday at the Montalvo Arts Center in Saratoga. Show time is 7:30 p.m., and tickets are $35-$75, www.ticketmaster.com. He also appears Saturday at the Fillmore in San Francisco. Show time is 9 p.m.

Does Tori Amos belong in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame? Think carefully before you answer that question. Sure, she's fallen out of favor somewhat in recent years, corresponding to her drop in album sales. Yet, the work she did in the '90s was nothing short of sensational. Plus, it's hard to name many other alt-rock artists who have created such an impressive body of work over the last three decades. So, she'd definitely get my vote -- if I had one to give -- once she becomes eligible for election in 2016. The singer-songwriter-pianist performs Monday at the Paramount Theatre in Oakland. Show time is 8 p.m. and tickets are $45-$59.50, www.ticketmaster.com.

Slightly Stoopid is the top name on Friday's bill at the Greek Theatre in Berkeley. That makes good business sense, since this SoCal reggae-rock act has a sizable -- and very dedicated -- fan base (lovingly referred to as the "stoopidheads"). Yet, fans should definitely arrive early enough to see all the other acts on the bill -- punk-rockers NOFX, reggae prince Stephen Marley and, best of all, funk-rockers Fishbone. Show time is 5:30 p.m. and tickets are $44.50, www.ticketmaster.com.
