STANFORD -- Stanford starting nose tackle Terrence Stephens is ineligible for the Rose Bowl due to a secondary violation of NCAA rules.
Stephens' transgression involved the rental of his off-campus housing, according to Stanford.
Stephens, a senior, did not play in either of Stanford's season-ending victories over UCLA. His absence was initially attributed to what the school termed a personal matter.
"He'll get his Stanford degree, and he'll take his shot at the NFL,'' Cardinal coach David Shaw said. "This is a minor bump.''
David Parry started in place of Stephens against UCLA and is expected to fill that role in the Rose Bowl.
