Five Cal pitchers gave up 16 runs and 18 hits to No. 20 Arizona as the host Bears on Sunday lost the final game of a three-game baseball series 16-5 after winning the first two.

The losing pitcher for the No. 16 Bears (29-15-2, 9-9 Pac-10) was right-hander Alex Rollin who gave up eight hits, five runs and two walks, and had four strikeouts.

Arizona (31-15, 8-10) was led by left-hander Eric Berger, who improved his record to 5-3 by throwing five innings, giving up three hits and one run with five walks and six strikeouts.

No. 3 Stanford 17, San Jose State 6: The Cardinal (27-15-2, 10-5) made a major comeback to defeat the host Spartans. The Cardinal was down 6-1 with two outs in the eighth inning, but used a five-run fifth and an 11-run ninth to turn the game into a blowout. Sean Ratliff had two home runs and five RBI for Stanford.

Miami 15, St. Mary's 3: The Hurricanes (39-5) scored 15 runs on 17 hits to defeat the Gaels (22-22-1) and sweep visiting St. Mary's. The Gaels' Kenny Fuglerud had his third multi-hit game of the series, going 2-for-3 and scoring two runs.

COLLEGE SOFTBALL

No. 8 Stanford 2, Oregon State 1: Michelle Smith had the game-winning hit and both of Stanford's RBI in a win over host Oregon State. With the victory, the Cardinal (45-10, 10-8 Pac-10) remain tied for third place entering the final weekend of Pac-10 play.

Oregon 4, No. 22 Cal 1: The Bears (40-21, 7-11) lost to the host Ducks after taking the first two games of the

series. Oregon scored all four of its runs in the bottom of the third inning to take a 4-0 lead. Cal scored its lone run in the sixth inning when Valerie Arioto doubled in Taylor Kelly. Brittany LaRosa (6-5) took the loss allowing all four runs on four hits in 2-1/3 innings of work.

St. Mary's 8-6, Loyola Marymount 7-8: The Gaels finished the season 27-26, after splitting a doubleheader with visiting Loyola Marymount. Sandra Ruezga and Kat Delpit each drove in runs in the first game for the Gaels.
