  • EnCana Corp., up $5.80 at $91.73: The Canadian energy company said it will split into two companies that focus on oil and natural gas by early 2009.

  • Boeing Co., up 74 cents at $84.80: It has received an order for four 777-200ER airplanes, worth $850 million at list price, from El Al Israel airlines.

  • Sprint Nextel Corp., down 14 cents at $9.24: The wireless carrier's first-quarter loss widened as it lost more than a million subscribers and absorbed larges charges.

  • Cablevision Systems Corp., down 45 cents at $24.52: It bested News Corp. and will buy Melville, N.Y.-based newspaper Newsday for $650 million from Tribune Co.

  • MBIA Inc., up 42 cents at $9.85: The credit crisis hit the bond insurer hard, fueling a $2.41 billion first-quarter loss and $3.58 billion in write-downs.

  • IndyMac Bancorp Inc., down 37 cents at $3.06: The mortgage lender swung to a first-quarter loss and tripled its credit reserves due in part to the subprime mess.
