Womens U19

The Alameda Islanders brought their brand of tough and technical soccer to Santa Cruz for a two day, select tournament on Sept. 29th & 30th, earning a medal and a fourth-place finish.

The team tied the tournament champions Oakdale 5-5 in group play, defeated PSC Contact 3-1 and PV United 3-1. Alameda missed a trip to the championship by one point, and finally fell to Scotts Valley in the consolation match 1-0. The Islanders went 2-1-1 on the weekend.

Forwards Ciara Lane, Lexus Rawlyk, Gracie Beireis, and Michelle Seiwald and midfielders Kaitlin Owyang, Carrie Simmons, Lauren Martin and Annie Kelly all scored goals for Alameda. Outstanding defenders for this tournament were Emily Dial, Nicole Naulty, Zoe Morrison and Sasita Knauer. Goalkeepers Jordan Cenidoza and Renee Barbour each contributed with numerous athletic saves.

The U19 Islanders will be playing at Hornet field on Oct. 13 and 20 with kickoffs at 1:15 p.m., and invite supporters to all of their matches.

ASC Fireballs 4, MSC Bobcats 3: The ASC Fireballs won a hard-fought battle against the MSC Bobcats with goals by Ryan Kimura and Caleb Garza, shots on goal and assists by Max Stento, and the winning goal by Kolton Kimura. Excellent goalie work by Robert Jensen and Tyler Wade were supported by a strong defensive effort from Liam McDonough, Austin Dunford and Daniel Lee.
