The Piedmont Middle School cross country team concluded its season with league championship meets this past week. The PMS sixth grade boys and girls cross country teams both won league titles on Nov. 5 at Kennedy Grove Regional Park. This was the first time in the history of the team that this has occurred. The girls team placed five runners in the top ten and their point total of 30 was also the lowest score of any PMS cross country team in championship competition. Erin Hong was the top runner for Piedmont, as she has been all season, and she finished second. Other top ten finishers were Ella Jeffries (fifth place), Elie Cole (sixth place), Laila Adarkar (seventh place) and Naomi Hollinger (10th).
On the sixth grade boys side, it was a very close race in deciding the winner, and one place in the standings made the difference. Piedmont had 56 points and won the meet by one point. Two PMS sixth grade boys placed in the top 10, Lorand Cheng (fourth place) and Henry Cooper
The seventh and eighth grade meet was on Nov. 8 at the same location. The PMS seventh and eighth grade girls were the defending league champions and repeated as winners, another first for the team.
