A closer look: The Spartans begin a quest for their 18th consecutive NCS title. Meanwhile, the Eagles are still looking for their first NCS crown. These two schools have met just once on the football field, an NCS first-round playoff game in 1993. De La Salle won that game 55-6, making American No. 24 in the national-record streak of 151 games.
