A two-alarm fire Saturday morning gutted a building and seriously damaged another in a lumber yard in Coyote, a tiny community in Coyote Valley.

No injuries were reported, Cal Fire said.

About 30 firefighters responded to a 5:47 a.m. report of the blaze at Padula Lumber at 8149 Monterey Road between Bailey Avenue and Metcalf Road, said Battalion Chief Jim Crawford.

Crews used nine fire engines and two trucks to contain the flames about 6:30 a.m., Crawford said.

The cause of the blaze was under investigation, authorities said.
