OAKLAND -- Oakland police need the public's help identifying and locating a man and a woman who investigators say are wanted on suspicion of killing 5-year-old Gabriel Martinez Jr. in December.
Police are also looking for four-door silver or light colored 2006 to 2009 Chevrolet Impala. Investigators believe there may have been additional females in the vehicle as well.
Police on Tuesday released surveillance video of the car and composite sketches of the suspects. The sketches were completed using information given to police by witnesses to the 8:45 p.m. shooting on Dec. 30, 2011, at his family's business -- a taco truck at 55th and International Boulevard in Oakland. The boy was walking through the parking lot with his father when he was fatally shot. The boy's mother was also working at the truck at the time; neither adult was shot.
The man wanted in connection with the shooting is described as African American, between 20 and 29 years old, 6 feet tall and 185 pounds. He has short black hair and brown eyes and was armed with a handgun. The woman is black, between 20 and 25 years old, 5 foot 7 and 140 pounds with dark hair.
Anyone with information should call the Oakland Police Department's major crimes unit at 510-238-3825, the tip line at 510-773-2805 or Crime Stoppers at 510-777-8572.
