CUPERTINO -- The California Highway Patrol is investigating the cause of a fatal accident this morning after a man drove up a dirt embankment in rural Cupertino and collided with a fence, according to Officer D.J. Sarabia.

The single-vehicle collision occurred at 9:36 a.m. on Stevens Canyon Road at Mount Eden Road near Stevens Creek County Park.

The CHP believes the male driver may have suffered a heart attack before driving off the roadway and hitting a fence.
