SAN JOSE -- County officials identified the two teenagers who died in a freeway crash as Joseph Robert Sionne and Louie Carlos Flores. Both 19-year-olds lived in San Jose, the Santa Clara County Medical Examiner's office reported on Sunday.
The teens were killed Saturday when the 2010 Chevrolet Cobalt they were riding in careened off Interstate 880 and ran into a ditch near Gish Road in San Jose, the California Highway Patrol said. The CHP did not say who was driving or whether the driver and passenger were wearing seat belts.
The passenger died at the scene after he was ejected from his car. The driver was transported to Regional Medical Center and later died at the hospital, CHP Officer D.J. Sarabia said.
The Chevy was speeding, the CHP reported. Alcohol is suspected as a factor in the crash, Sarabia said. No other vehicles were involved in the crash.
