Motorists trying to get around Pittsburg and Antioch should allow themselves a few more minutes of travel time this week, as work to widen Highway 4 will force some slower traffic on city streets.

Single lanes of traffic will be closed on Somersville Road/Auto Center Drive and Lone Tree Way/A Street in Antioch from about 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. weekdays in the vicinity of Highway 4, according to a Caltrans news release.

A single lane in both directions will also be closed weeknights on Pittsburg's Loveridge Road from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., ending on Friday morning. During the same time, a single lane in both directions of California Avenue will be closed between Loveridge and Carion Court.

There will be a full closure of Somersville/Auto Center in both directions weeknights from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., ending on Friday morning.

Drivers on Highway 4 itself will also see some delays and detours.

All eastbound lanes will be closed between the Loveridge and Somersville/Auto Center exits from midnight to 5 a.m. Saturday, and a single eastbound lane will be closed from Somersville to the Contra Loma Boulevard/L Street exit from 11 p.m. Friday night to 6 a.m. Saturday morning.

There will be nightly ramp closures on the eastbound and westbound Loveridge on- and offramps Monday through Thursday.
