Several city council and school board positions are open to those seeking public office in Tracy, Manteca and Lathrop.
Five spots are open on the new Board of Directors for the Mountain House Community Services District. Mountain House residents voted in a November special election to create this five-member board.
Seven people have filed for that election so far. Michael Klinker, public works superintendent; Martin Ngozi Kanu, educator and Realtor; Carl Hutchings, parent; Jim Lamb, local business owner; Doug Stephens, information security analyst; Thomas Lee III, software engineer; and Matthew Balzarini, law enforcement officer, will be on the November ballot.
The Mountain House board will be able to make ordinances and resolutions and change fees and rates, said San Joaquin County Supervisor Leroy Ornellas.
"They will have the same duties as a city council except planning — that remains in the control of the county," Ornellas said. "They will have pretty vast responsibilities."
Three school board trustee positions are available in Manteca Unified School District, and three trustee positions plus one unexpired trustee term are available in Tracy Unified School District for the November election.
Terms expire this year for Manteca Trustees Dale Fritchen and Michael Seelye, and board President Wendy King. Seelye and King have filed for reelection.
As for Tracy trustees, terms expire for Kelly Lewis, Tom Hawkins
