Contra Costa Health Services will host free flu clinics in nine cities Wednesday.

One flu vaccine is needed this year to protect people from H1N1 and two other flu viruses. Vaccine will be available in nasal and shot form. Free whooping cough and pneumococcal vaccines are also available for those who are eligible.

The clinics are open to the public on a first-come, first-serve basis. Everyone 6 months and older should get vaccinated, the health services agency said in a news release.

Clinics will be held from 1 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at 403 Civic Center Plaza, Richmond; 5050 El Portal Drive, El Sobrante; 5298 Clayton Road, Concord; 30 Muir Road, Martinez; 952 Moraga Road, Lafayette; 655 Old Orchard Drive Danville; 200 Marina Blvd., Pittsburg; 1919 Buchanan Road, Antioch and 30 Learning Lane, Brentwood.
