Police are continuing their search for a missing nursing student who was last seen at a Hayward hospital on Friday.
Michelle Hoang Thi Le, 26, was taking a class at Kaiser Permanente Hayward Medical Center in conjunction with a nursing course she's enrolled in at Samuel Merritt University in Oakland, authorities said.
Le, a San Mateo resident, told many classmates she was planning to drive to Reno after class. She left class during a break around 7 p.m. and didn't return, according to police. She did not meet a friend who was to have accompanied her to Reno.
Police found her car parked a few blocks from the hospital and have not been able to reach Le by calling her cellphone.
Le's family on Monday night offered a reward of $20,000 for information that leads to her safe return.
Le is described as 5 feet 6 inches tall with black hair and brown eyes.
Investigators are not certain a crime has been committed but friends said it was unusual for Le to vanish without telling anyone where she was going.
Police are talking to Le's family and friends and are following up on leads that may reveal where she may have gone. She is not known to have any medical or psychological problems that would cause her to disappear, authorities said.
Anyone with information should call Hayward police at 510-293-7000.
