OAKLAND -- In a mild surprise, the Warriors waived both guard Seth Curry and center Dewayne Dedmon Friday and now have one roster spot open.

Curry, the younger brother of Warriors star Stephen Curry, appeared to be battling with Dedmon for the final spot on the Warriors' 15-man roster. However, now both Curry and Dedmon, will join the Warriors' NBA Development League team in Santa Cruz.

Veteran forward Joe Alexander, who was also waived by the Warriors Friday, is also expected to join the Santa Cruz Warriors.

Curry, 23, was signed as a free agent on Aug. 22 and averaged 2.2 points and 1.0 assists in six preseason games.

Dedmon, 24, averaged 3.4 points, 4.0 rebounds and 1.0 blocks in five preseason games after he was signed as a free agent on Sept. 23.

The 26-year-old Alexander, a former first-round pick of the Milwaukee Bucks, did not appear in a preseason game due to a tibial stress reaction in his left leg.
