SMITHFIELD, Utah -- A 14-year-old paperboy reported missing says a goat kept him stuck in a tree for an hour.

Jaxon Gessel of Smithfield, about 90 miles north of Salt Lake City, said he was delivering papers on his bicycle Tuesday morning when a goat attacked him, head-butting him and knocking him to the ground. Gessel told the Herald Journal of Logan that goat kept nipping at him, forcing him to flee up a tree.

The teen says the hour-long standoff ended when the goat was distracted by girls passing by. When the goat began to chase the girls, Gessel says, he jumped from the tree and grabbed the animal's collar.

By that time, Smithfield police had gotten a call from Gessel's parents reporting he was overdue, as well as calls reporting a boy struggling with a goat.

The goat was impounded by Smithfield animal control officers.
